Dare to ask. Yes, He knows our needs and wants before we ask. Still, we need to ask. Nasa Diyos ang awa; Nasa tao ang gawa. Why? Why do we need to ask or even work for it? Because, even though our Father owns and commands everything on earth and in heaven, we are not spoiled brats. Because we are not meant to be passive, but active children going about our Father's business. Because asking means understanding the need and appreciating the gift/grace. Because asking is the ultimate act of filial confidence in God, characterized by humility, courage and faith. It takes a lot of courage to recognize our littleness and believe that, in spite of that, He loves us and pays attention.
Ask, Seek, Knock. It's a favorite verse by many which, when not fully understood, leads to being disgruntled. We focus too much on the first part, that we fail to see the second part where Jesus qualifies: "your heavenly Father give[s] good things to those who ask Him". He doesn't grant every request, just the ones which are GOOD for us. So, anytime you feel like God is not answering your prayer, you may want to consider that the answer is probably, "No, because it's not good for you".
From 1st Reading intro:
"Esther dares to do this out of love ... We need her belief and courage to be successful disciples of Jesus".
Gospel - Matthew 7:7-12:
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened ... If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask Him."
