Me: (fresh off bed, at the breakfast table) "A, don't forget to drink your milk."
A: (look of surprise, then a big grin) "Yes, Mama"
Me: "Oh, shoots! I'm supposed to be mad nga pala!"
A: (chuckles and runs to the kitchen for his glass of milk)
Yeah, I'm not very good with keeping grudges. Never really believed in it. For one thing, whenever we nurse grudges, we are really just torturing ourselves. We are the ones walking around with Nimbus (aka Rainclouds - A's Science lesson) clouds hanging over our heads. Oh, we can pretend the other person is miserable. But, chances are, they are simply going about their lives the same way ... probably with a huge weight off their shoulders, too (Read: Happier, more free!).
I have always liked the Filipino version of Monday's Gospel better: "Magbigay kayo at kayo'y bibigyan ng Diyos; hustong takal, siksik, liglig, at umaapaw pa ang ibibigay sa inyo." Yes, it is good to "Pay it Forward". We receive from God and we do the same to others. However, to "Pay it Forward" requires receiving first. What Jesus tells us is not to wait, but to proactively give and forgive. One tiny good deed creates a ripple, thus it will inevitably come back to us. And, because a ripple gets bigger, when it does come back around, it will likely be a tidal wave. By then we wouldn't know what hit us. But, when that happens, remember: "somewhere in [your] youth or childhood, [you] must have done something good". And then thank God :)
From Gospel Intro:
"Let us forgive rather than judge, to set free rather than bind someone to judgment."
Gospel - Luke 6:36-38:
"Jesus said to his disciples: 'Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. 'Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.' "
