At Mass, the priest pointed out, that each of us is the temple of God. This means, that we need to treat both our neighbors and ourselves with reverence. Anytime we feel like lashing out on other people or abusing ourselves, we need to recognize that God is in each of us. Would you scream at God? Would you overwork Him? No, right? I mean, come on, even God rested on the 7th day!
Another good reminder is on how Jesus, having lived with us, knows exactly what it is to be human. He knows its frailties. Yet He demands us to be "perfect like the Father is perfect". If He was able to transcend His human weaknesses and triumph over Satan's temptations, then we can, too. While, ultimately, Jesus' purpose is the resurrection, He also came to show us the step-by-step demo on how to achieve it ourselves --- much like the airline stewardesses doing a demo on safety. If we are to survive this flight called, Life, we need to follow His instructions and procedures.
From Today's 1st Reading - Exodus 20:1-17:
"In six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them; but on the seventh day He rested."
From Psalm 19:8 - 11:
"The law of the Lord is perfect; refreshing the sould; the decree of the Lord is trustworthy, giving wisdom to the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the command of the Lord is clear, enlightening the eye."
From the Gospel John 2:13-25:
"... he said, 'Take these our of here, and stop making my Father's house a marketplace.' His disciples recalled the words of scripture, 'Zeal for Your house will consume me' ..
But He was speaking about the temple of His body ...
... He knew them all, and did not need anyone to testify about human nature. He Himself understood it well."
