Lenten Series: Feb 21

To "give until it hurts" does not only suggest love, but also complete trust in God's providence; trust, that, even as you give that final piece of bread to someone in need, He will not let you go hungry. One of the things that struck me about the life of our Mother Foundress, Madre Candida Maria De Jesus, is her full trust that God will take care of her every need.
One rainy day, wearing her battered old pair of shoes, she walked boldly into the street ---trusting that God would not allow her feet to get wet. True enough, the rain stopped. She did not ask for a new pair of shoes. Who needs it, when you have a God who can stop the rain?
To love others fully is to trust that you are loved fully first by God. There is no need to hold anything back, when He will fill you right back up --- like bottomless drinks in restos smile emoticon

From 1st Reading - Isaiah 58:9-14:
"... if you bestow your bread on the hungry and satisfy the afflicted; then light shall rise for you in the darkness, and the gloom shall become for you like midday; then the Lord will guide you always and give you plenty even on the parched land. He will renew your strength, and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring whose water never fails."

Psalm 86:5:
"For You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in kindness to all who call upon You."
