Lenten Series: Mar 10

No half-measures.
It takes courage to love (and forgive) in full measure. Any self-preserving human would know to love in full measure means ultimate vulnerability; vulnerability means greater chances of betrayal and getting hurt. Human wisdom would call it foolishness. Just imagine if God felt the same way ... we would never have a shot at heaven. If God was as calculating in loving us as we are, He would not forgive us 100% each time we fall. It is God's full measure of love that keeps Him believing, that, given enough chances, we will get it right. He even sent His son to show us the idiot-proof way to salvation (a.k.a. salvation for dummies). All we have to do is follow 100% with our whole heart => 100% obedience. If God could take that leap of faith to believe in us, why can't we? And while we're at it, we should take that conscious leap of faith to believe in each other and to forgive one another in full measure.

"I made a promise to believe in what's just
and turn this intermission
to a journey of trust."
(Intermission, Taken By Cars)

From 1st Reading - Daniel 3:25, 34:43
"But with contrite heart and humble spirit let us be received; as though it were burnt offerings of rams and bullocks, or thousands of fat lambs, so let our sacrifice be in your presence today as we follow you unreservedly; for those who trust in you cannot be put to shame. And now we follow you with our whole heart."

From the Gospel - Matthew 18:21-25
"Peter approached Jesus and asked Him, 'Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?' Jesus answered, 'I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.'
... forgive[s] your brother from your heart."
